Dan is passionate about helping individuals in their own journey of health, believing that the body can heal itself if given the proper opportunity. He regards hands-on manual therapy as one method – one medium – to assist in healing. Dan is a strong advocate of individuals playing a large role in improving their own health when given the appropriate knowledge and tools to do so.
Dan graduated in 2013 from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, before becoming registered as a Kinesiologist. He subsequently completed a course to become a Certified Exercise Physiologist, and then received a diploma in Massage Therapy.
He is registered with both the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and is a member of the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology.
Due to his own health struggles over the past 5 years, Dan enjoys helping those who are currently on a health or healing journey, whether due to chronic disease, or disorders like anxiety. By incorporating Massage Therapy – as well as movement and exercise – into their lives to assist in their individual healing, Dan is passionate about helping others find life balance: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
One of his strengths as a practitioner is in understanding and being sensitive to personal challenges associated with lifestyle changes or healing processes, and providing individualized treatment and support.
Dan is a strong proponent of the positive effects of Therapeutic Massage Therapy on emotional and physical health, as well as recovery from injury. Similarly, he advocates for the importance of movement, which – in addition to physical benefits – has been shown to have a very positive effect on mood and anxiety levels. He has noticed that many people undergoing a lifestyle change, or healing process, acknowledge exercise or movement as beneficial, but are unsure of what to do or how to create an exercise routine that considers their potential physical and mental limitations, or energy levels.
Dan also offers 1-on- 1 personal training services (right around the corner from True Wellness), providing clients with individualized exercise and movement programs based on their unique goals and preferences.
In his spare time, Dan enjoys playing baseball, squash, and volleyball, reading more about health and wellness, and singing and strumming away on his guitar.
